Stakeholder engagement

In the past, shareholders were often viewed as the only stakeholders in a company, but nowadays it is fully accepted that customers, employees, suppliers, local communities, governments, non-governmental organizations (NGO) and many more can be added to the list. In the pursuit of sustainable development and sustainable agriculture we are committed to stakeholder engagement.

• Initiating and maintaining an open dialogue
• Consulting with stakeholders
• Co-operating in multi-stakeholder programmes, including public-private partnerships.


Challenges
The broad and constructive stakeholder consultation undertaken to develop our Sustainable Agriculture Strategy led to many good recommendations. One in particular that we are now working on is how to build societal perspectives into our business decision-making process through the engagement of stakeholders in a more consistant and integrated manner.
