Small-scale farmers help to safeguard the world’s food supply



For Bayer CropScience, small-scale farmers are customers just as much as farmers working on large-scale operations. However, there are differences in the products and applications for them. For example, Bayer CropScience has developed practical pack sizes for small-scale farmers such as single-use doses (ampoules) for application to small areas.

The main challenge, however, is nit the availability of suitable products but the access to information (market, prices or growing methods). Solutions also have to be found to finance these resources and their storage and transport. Bayer CropScience is therefore participating in numerous projects, in some cases together with partners (e.g. Food Chain Partnerships1) to improve the situation for small-scale farmers. In addition to its products, the company is also contributing its know-how to the problem.
